The Story Behind Veggy & Fruity: A Journey of Passion and Purpose

Updated: Apr 10
Have you ever had a dream that just wouldn't let go? For me, that dream is Veggy & Fruity.

My passion for nutrition didn't start yesterday. It began over a decade ago. It all started in 2014, after qualifying as a colon hydrotherapist and specializing as a detox coach, my mission was clear: I wanted to help people feel more energetic, fit, and positive. Working alongside a doctor, I developed a detox program to guide adults toward balance and well-being.
But as a mother to my two children, Thijmen and Doutzen, I realized the foundation for a healthy life starts much earlier.
Creating a Positive Relationship with Food
I didn't want my children to eat broccoli because they had to. I wanted them to feel for themselves what healthy food does: more energy, more happiness, and simply feeling good.
From this vision, Veggy & Fruity was born. I wrote my first children’s book to introduce kids to nutrition in a playful way. I created relatable characters—friends that children can identify with—to make healthy eating an adventure rather than a chore. I wanted to give parents a helpful tool, because we all want the very best for our children.

When Life Gets in the Way
Sometimes, the timing isn't right. Years ago, I felt the world wasn't quite ready for this message. On top of that, personal challenges required my full attention. With limited time and energy, my dream for Veggy & Fruity slowly faded into the background.
But a true passion never really leaves you. Even amidst the hustle of work and family life, that desire to help parents foster a positive mindset around healthy food kept calling me back.
A New Chapter: Healthy bites, Sunny Smiles
Today feels different. My energy has returned, and my passion is stronger than ever. I’ve realized that I no longer want to wait for the "perfect" moment. If I can inspire even just a handful of parents and grandparents, this journey is worth it.
I am choosing to let go of my doubts and share this story with you. Step by step, I’m inviting you to join me as I develop Veggy & Fruity further. Behind the scenes, I am working on a plan that can grow and evolve. I believe that by sharing this mission, I will connect with the right people who want to contribute to a healthier, more positive world for our children.
Because ultimately, big change starts small:
"Healthy Bites, Sunny Smiles."
Together, we can set our children on the path to a lifelong positive mindset around healthy food.
